San Marcos Veterans and families will be the benefactors from this event. Some local fraternities/sororities, Boy Scouts, and Girl Scouts have teamed up with our VFW members to help run the First Annual VFW Haunted House. The theme will be “Classic Horror Movies”. Such as Frankenstein, The Mummy, Dracula, The Wolfman and others.Keith Foley , VFW haunted house chairman, said we hope that families will use this as a safe place to bring their kids. Creating the Haunted House involves Text Box: making a rough map of the building. Haunted House coordinator Stephanie Harris of the Ladies Auxiliary said VFW Members can be assigned an area, given a theme and allowed to design and decorate. We might have a foggy graveyard room, a scary forest for the wolfman, and a laboratory room for Dr. Frankenstein. “We are planning all kinds of fun things.” Ms. Harris said creepy noises, fog and the scary music will add an extra zing to the experience. Ms. Harris also said if the scary fun is too intense for preschoolText Box: ers we are having a Halloween Adventure for small children who will get to visit the Wizard of OZ via the yellow brick road. If you’re a good Tin Man, scare crow or have the courage of a Lion, please contact her. This will be set up in the Boy Scout Hut behind the VFW. Holly Jo West is coordinating all outdoor games and activities for Halloween and needs your help. We are planning on a Fall Hay Ride (need drivers) and autumn decorations to view.
