Richard grew up in Phoenix, AZ where he later joined the Army in 1995 and then moved to San Marcos in 1997 to attend TX State graduating in 1999. After graduation he was hired by the San Marcos Police Dept as a patrol officer. In Jan. 2003 he was activated for duty as a Platoon leader for the 302nd MP Co. He was deployed to Kuwait for little over a month prior to the war beginning and sent to Iraq with the first reserve MP Co. for ap |

proximately 1 year. While in Iraq Richard did convoy security operations, police patrols and was an instructor at the Iraq Police Training Academy. While instructing at the academy he taught the Iraqi officers the use of firearms (pistols, how to drive, arrest techniques, defensive tactic and accident investigation.) March of 2004 he returned to San Marcos and is continuing his reserve service at the Army Reserve unit here in town. |
