FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
“VFW Rides for the Troops”
Veterans of Foreign Wars understand all too much the sacrifices that one makes in service to their country. As such, members of the Texas Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) will be in San Marcos on the evening of September 27, 2004 at the local Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3413 located at 1701 Hunter Road.
This motorcycle ride is a statewide event that is being used to raise funds to support our troops and their families in a time of crisis. Called the Military Assistance Program or MAP for short the program is used exclusively to support our deployed troops and the families that they leave behind to serve our country in Iraq or Afghanistan.
All funds raised from the “Ride for the Troops” is being set into the emergency Financial Assistance portion of MAP. Emergency Financial Assistance is available for soldiers and their families that are suffering from financial difficulties caused by their service and deployment. One time Tax-free grants of up to $1,000.00 are available. Last year the Texas VFW provided over $29,000.00 in emergency financial assistance to Texas soldiers and their families.
Across the State of Texas, the VFW is there to help our soldiers and their families and will remain steadfast in this promise till the last soldier comes home. Your donations to this worthy program will ensure that our soldier’s only concern is their job and know that we, the citizens of Texas, will take care of their families and support them in every way possible.
For more information contact Dan West or Keith Foley at 754-0674 or contact the Texas VFW MAP chairman, Roy J. Grona at (512) 834- 8535 or e-mail him at roy@texasvfw.org.
